Scottsdale
Nothing better than a girls trip after being stuck on layovers mostly alone. I’d been working so I flew separately. Lucky enough for my friends though I was able to greet them in my uniform which always seems to humor people.
We rented an Airbnb in Scottsdale and considering we had a group of eleven it was the economical choice.
We started our three day weekend with a dip in the pool even though it was roughly 60 degrees but hey we’re midwest girls so that was warm enough for us. Then drinks and dinner for a more chill night out so we could wake up early in the morning.
The reason for getting up early was to hike Camelback. For some reason we took it upon ourselves to hike up the harder route. I kid you not when I say parts of hiking up we were on our hands and knees. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good hike in any city. Whoa though, I out-kicked my coverage a bit doing this. The minor hangover didn’t help, but by some act of God we made it to the top.
The view is worth the pain of getting up there. Believe me we took our time to relax and get a picture from every angle because we deserved it. On the way down we took the ‘easier’ route. Sure it was a bit easier. A bit.
After getting lunch and daring each other to do dumb things during throughout as adults do, we headed back to our place to get spiffy for a night out.
Going out in Old Town Scottsdale is right on the heels of going out in Vegas. It’s always a wild time especially when you weasel your way into bottle service.
Our second full day was my personal favorite. We went to Corks & Cactus at the Desert Botanical Garden. It was a wine tasting with live music and the perfect setting.
It was only $45 for a ticket and try a plethora of wines, red, white, sparkling and rose.
We had a great time enjoying the sun, music, and wines. Yes, we were really good at finding the vendors who gave the fattest pours.
Last day consisted of brunch and motor scooters. We went o Hash Kitchen for brunch and we did not chose wrong.
For brunch drinks, half of us went with the build your own bloody mary bar, and the other half went with the mimosa flight.
It was a tie. Everyones drink was bomb. I went with the chicken & waffles for breakfast and am dying to get back to Scottsdale just to have them again.
The rest of the day we enjoyed scootering around before we had to catch our flight. Scottsdale was the perfect spot for a long girls weekend.
If I could change anything I’d say going a little later. We went in February and it wasn’t terribly warm yet but we still had a killer time.
